Supports resistance mechanisms when facing infection with cold and influenza viruses.*
Elder berries are known to be effective against eight strains of influenza. This suggests that elder berry is superior to vaccines in preventing flu, because flu vaccines are only effective against known strains of flu, whereas the virus is continually mutating to new strains. Vaccines have another drawback: over half of people who get them report side effects. Dr. Madeleine Mumcuoglu, of Hadassah-Hebrew University in Israel found that elderberry disarms the enzyme viruses use to penetrate healthy cells in the lining of the nose and throat. Taken before infection, it prevents infection. Taken after infection, it prevents spread of the virus through the respiratory tract. In a clinical trial, 20% of study subjects reported significant improvement within 24 hours, 70% by 48 hours, and 90% claimed complete cure in three days. In contrast, subjects receiving the placebo required 6 days to recover.

Saw Palmetto as a source of monolaurin - medium-chain fatty acids that destroy the lipid-coated bacteria and viruses, including influenza. Suggested Use: Shake well. Twelve years and older, add 1-4 ml (15-60 drops) to a small amount of water and drink. Use 3-4 times daily as needed. To evaporate alcohol before drinking, add to a cup of heated water (no microwave!) and allow to sit for ten minutes before drinking. Precautions: Not recommended for pregnant women or women who are breastfeeding. Not recommended for children under age 12. For these "people groups," use Wondrous Roots Elderberry & Echinacea or Elderberry extract by itself.
Precautions: Many herbs have not been studied for safety during pregnancy. Many medicinal plants contain natural blood-thinning properties, so use with caution if using blood-thinning medications.
