The pot-puffing residents of California only had a few days to enjoy a new legal regime for recreational cannabis in their state before the Trump administration pulled the rug out.

The Associated Press reports that US attorney general Jeff Sessions will close off the legal gray area that has allowed legal marijuana for medicinal or recreational purposes to flourish in more than half of US states. Tomorrow (Jan. 5), he plans to rescind a directive to federal prosecutors, called the Cole Memo, that urged them not to prosecute state-sanctioned cannabis production and distribution.

"Natural medicine doesn't just involve "nutraceuticals," but extends to modalities like yoga and acupuncturethat an increasing body of peer-reviewed research shows can be superior to drugs."

What we're doing at our house for supper tonight!

Slow Cooker Short Ribs with Leeks
8 ounces fresh mushrooms, halved
4 medium carrots, cut into 1-inch pieces
4 medium leeks, cut into 1-inch slices
2 pounds boneless beef short ribs
2 teaspoons finely shredded lemon peel
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary, crushed
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup beef broth
1/3 cup dairy sour cream
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

  1. Place mushrooms, carrots, and leeks into a 3-1/2 to 4-quart slow cooker.  Place beef over vegetables.  Sprinkle with lemon peel, pepper, rosemary, thyme, and salt.
  2. Use a slotted spoon to transfer meat and vegetables to serving dish.
  3. Skim fat from remaining cooking liquid (I won't do this; the fat is so healthful!).  Measure 1 cup cooking liquid.  Place in a saucepan.  In a small bowl stir together sour cream and flour (I won't do this - will have the nice fat for substance!)  Stir into cooking liquid.  Cook over medium heat until hot and bubbly; cook and stir for 1 minute more.  Ladle sauce over meat and veggies.
  4. YUM!!!!!!!
