Summary: Nowadays, it is mainly used in Europe as a rinse, compress, or eyebath, and modern herbalists worldwide use eyebright as a poultice with or with concurrent administration of a tea for the redness, swelling, and visual disturbances caused by blepharitis and conjunctivitis. The herb is also used for eyestrain, and to relieve inflammation caused by colds, coughs, sinus infections, and sore throat. Traditionally, herbalists have also used it for hay fever and nasal decongestion.
Precautions: The safety of this herb during pregnancy and lactation is not proven.
Suggested Use: Shake well. Twelve years and older, add 1-4 ml (15-60 drops) to a small amount of water and drink. Use 3-4 times daily as needed. To evaporate alcohol before drinking, add to a cup of heated water (no microwave!) and allow to sit for ten minutes before drinking. If an herb is appropriate for children, herb doses for children under 12 are typically 1/2 the adult dose; adjust by weight accordingly or check with a qualified practitioner.

Eyebright Herbal Extract
Dear Ms. Montrone: Your Eyebright Herbal liquid extract is a superb preparation. I noticed the difference within 24 hours after taking the first dose. For us old-timers (70+ yrs), with congenital eye diseases in the family, it gives us hope for natural treatments that can save our vision without having to rely on expensive, bogus pharmaceutical crap. Now, with the Wild Lettuce Leaf liquid extract, I think that the dose could be stronger--maybe twice the amount of leaves to make the extract. For us big guys (180 lbs) it would make a difference. The dose, as it is, takes about 20 minutes to work on an empty stomach. It's a nice sophorific effect. Sincerely,
