Aspalathus linearis Grain alcohol 60%, spring water. Strength 1:5.
Very high in anti-oxidants, Rooibos supports a healthy immune system. Used for colicky babies. Used both topically and internally for skin conditions. Anti-viral, anti-allergenic, and anti-spasmodic properties have been recognized by modern science. Traditionally used in South Africa for headache in children.*
This plant is commonly known as "Red Tea" or "Red Bush Tea" and is most commonly consumed as tea. It is delicious, caffeine-free, nutritious, and soothing to the digestive tract. It is not, however, true "tea" (Camillia sinensis) but a different plant altogether. Note that white, green, black, and oolong teas are all true "tea;" the same plant - Camillia sinensis - each processed differently after picking (let's just be clear here!).
Rebecca Speaks: I offer this plant in extract form primarily to include in formulas. Drinking rooibos as a tea is much more pleasant that taking a liquid extract; however, if you want to enjoy the daily health benefits of rooibos without drinking the tea, this extract is for you - Red Tea in "shot" form!
Suggested Use: Shake well. Twelve years and older, add 1-4 ml (15-60 drops) to a small amount of water and drink. Use 3-4 times daily as needed. To evaporate alcohol before drinking, add to a cup of heated water (no microwave!) and allow to sit for ten minutes before drinking. Children under 12 are typically 1/2 the adult dose. With this plant especially, it isn't rocket science.
Precautions: None.
